Frequently Asked Questions

What are dropsided trucks used for?

They’re ideal for transporting materials, equipment and oversized items that are easier to load from the sides. Common uses include construction supplies, landscaping materials, scaffolding, long timber, pallets and event equipment.

Do I need a special licence?

The 3.5T dropsider can be driven on a standard car licence (Category B).
The 7.5T and 17/18T vehicles require the appropriate commercial licence category.

Are dropsided trucks easy to load?

Yes. The open sides allow quick loading from any direction, making them perfect for long, bulky or awkward loads that wouldn’t easily fit into a box van.

Do these trucks have tail lifts?

Yes, the 18T and 7.5T dropsided trucks have tail lift versions available.

Can I hire for a single day?

Absolutely. We offer affordable day hire across all DIY removal vehicles.

Can I use a dropsided truck for personal projects?

Yes. They’re suitable for DIY building projects, garden clear-outs, timber transport and any job that needs an open bed.

Are straps or securing equipment included?

We don’t supply straps as standard, so you’ll need to bring your own. Loads must be secured properly before travelling.

Are there height restrictions like with box vans?

Generally no, dropsided trucks offer far more flexibility for taller or awkward loads, but you still need to check legal load heights and remain compliant.

Do I need a credit card?

Our quote system tells you whether your chosen vehicle needs one, just enter your details and you’ll see a red “credit card required” warning next to any vehicle that requires a credit card.
