FAQ
What documents do I need to hire a vehicle?
We need to see all of the following documentation at the time of hire.
DRIVER’S LICENCE
21 to 24 yrs of age: A current full driver’s licence held for a minimum of 24 months, (endorsements and restrictions permitting).
25 yrs and over: A current full driver’s licence held for a minimum of 12 months, longer for MPV’s and minibuses (endorsements and restrictions permitting).
Hirers will be asked for what the vehicle is being used for. This is part of our Insurance requirement.
Non-EU driving licences may require an International Driver Licence for translation. We advise Non-EU licence holders to check their eligibility to drive in UK as certain restrictions apply if they have been resident in the UK for more than 12 months.
UK Driving Licence Holders: IMPORTANT INFORMATION
You must produce either your Photo Card Driving Licence or old paper style licence. The paper counterpart was abolished on 8 June 2015. All driving records are now digitally stored by the DVLA. You will need to obtain an Access/Verification Code from the DVLA in order for us to view your record. Obtain it at www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence or by calling 0300 083 0013. The code is case sensitive, valid for 21 days, and single use. Printing your driver summary is recommended to speed up collection.

Can I use the vehicle for waste removal?
Yes, but check with your local recycling centre if vans require registration or a permit. Rules differ for personal vs trade waste. It is the hirer’s responsibility to check before hire.
Can I take the vehicle outsdie of the UK?
No, vehicles are for UK mainland use only.
What happens if I get a parking or driving fine while using a Salford Van Hire vehicle?
If a parking or driving offence occurs during your hire, we’ll receive the notice first as the registered vehicle owner. Our team will handle the paperwork and forward the details to the issuing authority, applying an admin fee of £35.00 + VAT (£42.00 total) to cover this process.
Often, offences are reported after the vehicle has been returned, in which case the admin fee will still be taken from the payment card on file. Please note, this fee only covers our admin time, the fine itself must be paid directly to the authority that issued it.
